Graduation Achievement Charter High School
Announces RaShaun Holliman as Graduation Speaker
Vice President of Outreach and Communications for the Georgia Charter School Association to address families at Spring Commencement
[ATLANTA]–Graduation Achievement Charter High School (GACHS), a statewide public charter high school district, is pleased to announce the keynote speaker for its fourth spring commencement planned for June 11, 2016, at Georgia State University’s Student Center Ballroom.
RaShaun Holliman, Vice President of Outreach and Communication for the Georgia Charter School Association, will address students and families of this virtual public high school serving students across the state of Georgia.
“We are delighted to have RaShaun Holliman speak to our students. He is a lifelong learner with a passion for student success. Our students will be motivated and energized by hearing him,” said Dr. Monica Henson, Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer for GACHS.
Holliman has a diverse career experience in the field of education, including work in Columbus, Ohio as Principal of Focus Learning Academy. Focus, like GACHS, is a dropout prevention charter high school. Prior to joining the founding staff at Focus Learning Academy East, he was a content editor for McGraw-Hill, concentrating on writing and developing innovative textbooks and materials for elementary students across the country. He worked as a parent liaison for the Columbus City Schools, working to get parents more involved in the school and their child’s academics. He was also an instructor at Life Skills Center of Northern Columbus.
Holliman said he is passionate about education. His goal in life is to encourage low- income and minority students to see that education is the gateway to the American dream for students whose backgrounds are similar to his. He is also active in the local metro community, having served as Chair of Neighborhood Planning Unit K and was a 2014 New Leaders Council Fellow and board member.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Holliman earned his B.A. in political science from Wright State University and master’s degree in educational leadership from Capella University. Holliman said that his greatest accomplishment is his 12-year-old son, Jaden.
Unlike a traditional high school setting, GACHS offers a blend of online learning and one-on-one and small group instruction for students who may require it. Operating as a blended learning environment, where students have the option of attending high school by logging into their home computers or by attending one of six Graduation Achievement Centers strategically located across the state, GACHS is poised to achieve higher levels of academic success.
