Traditional High Schools: Not for Everyone
Although the high school graduation rate in the U.S. has increased over the last decade, 20 percent of Georgia high schoolers don’t graduate alongside their peers. There are a variety of reasons why, from absenteeism and health reasons to work or familial responsibilities, and these are just a few of the factors that contribute to dropout rates. Regardless of the reason, however, dropping out of high school hinders future employment and educational opportunities.
The truth is, traditional high schools don’t work for every student. For those students who must work, employment hours may collide with mandated school hours. For others, current curricula may not mesh with the student’s learning style, and the student may struggle with educational requirements. Despite Georgia’s attempts to update curricula to personalized learning paths and putting less emphasis on test scores, there are still thousands of students who do not graduate.
What Is an Online High School?
Graduation Achievement Charter High School classes are offered online, they’re tuition-free, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We provide flexible schedules that meet individual learning styles and academic needs, rather than focusing on a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
We understand the challenges our students face due to family, work, and other unforeseen circumstances. If you are between the ages of 14 and 22 and have dropped out of high school, we can provide the academic tools you’ll need to earn an online high school diploma in Atlanta and meet future educational and employment goals.
How Important Is Accreditation?
We are an accredited high school online in Atlanta, meaning we have been certified as a credible and authentic high school by the state. Charter schools and public online high schools in Georgia are public schools of choice, and operate under a mandate by the State Board of Education. Like other charter schools and unlike traditional schools, Graduation Achievement Charter High School is governed by a non-profit board of directors who make sure the school is meeting its legal, financial, and educational responsibilities.
The main difference between a traditional high school and an online charter school in Atlanta is that charter schools are given some flexibility with their educational programs, and that’s why we’re able to offer the innovative classes and schedules that we do. But because we are given the flexibility that falls outside of traditional curriculum guidelines, we are held to a higher educational standard, with higher levels of accountability. You can be assured that this approach will help prepare you for college classes or improve your employment opportunities, whatever your goal may be.
Education: Your Way
If life interrupted your high school education, or you struggled with the academic side of high school and this prevented you from earning your diploma, we can provide a curriculum that fits your schedule, and offers an individualized approach to ensure your success. We’re a public online high school in Atlanta, so there are no high tuitions to pay, and we offer an open enrollment for students, including English language learners and those with disabilities.
